Ever since I’ve discovered the Emotional Freedom Techniques and experienced how life-changing they can be, I have had a passion for sharing them with others. I decided to learn from the best about the most effective ways to get results.

LEARN ABOUT THESE TIPS BEFORE YOU TAP:

1. Drink a full glass of water before tapping to stimulate and prepare your body’s electrical system

2. You can tap down either side of your body with either or even both hands, or try alternating

3. Don’t tap too hard. Use the same amount of pressure you would as if you were drumming your fingers on a table.

4. Take a slow deep breath after you complete a round of tapping to help move the energy through your body

5. Yawning during tapping is a sign that you are releasing energy, so let out the yawns and keep going

6. When you tap along with a group of others (either live or via recording), you will experience “borrowing benefits” whether or not you are the “primary tapper”. So always tap along.

7. The key to tapping is to “tune in” and always ask yourself “How does this make me feel?” and that will be your guide.

It’s actually common for people to have anxiety about not knowing what to say when they tap for themselves. The good news is – there isn’t a wrong way to do EFT, you can’t make a mistake or hurt yourself.

If you’re having issues about knowing what to say, then choose from these powerful EFT affirmation phrases to help you move forward. These examples were drawn from actual EFT tutorials given by several of the top EFT practitioners in the field.

And you can mix and match these positive affirmations with one of these many helpful phrases:

Some people get bored repeating the typical “I deeply and completely love and accept myself” affirmation. This mix of EFT phrases can help to stimulate a more specific reaction and better clearing. Play around with them and add your own words.

As always, to get the best results with EFT, tune into your feelings and intuition and let them guide you. Of course if you’re still having trouble clearing your limiting beliefs on your own, then visit an EFT practitioner because this technique works for everyone and you just might need a little extra guidance.

Kevin: So, I love to give takeaways for people. What can someone take away from this call? What’s a process that someone can do? Or, what is a way that someone can get their mind geared up to actually start practicing some of this?

Carol: Okay. Well, let’s talk about abundance and success. As everybody wants some form of it. So again, whether it’s with relationships, or their health and their body, or financially, everybody wants to be more successful than they are in some area.

Kevin: Sure.

Carol: What I like to tell people is that abundance is a feeling, it’s not a dollar amount in your bank account.

So if there’s one thing you do, you want to change how you feel. Which is your vibration, right? So what you can do is focus on gratitude and what you feel grateful or appreciative of. And while you do that, you can tap. So you don’t just have to tap on the problem, you can tap on positive things, positive feelings, as you tap.

Kevin: Okay, so you can tap on a feeling that you have.

Carol: Yes. So you could go through the tapping. I mean, the better way to do it is to identify the issue, tap on that, neutralize it, and then go to the positive.

Kevin: Okay.

Carol: But you could just tap; so I do a daily gratitude list. I’m grateful for this. I appreciate this. I’m so thankful for this. And if you do that while you’re tapping, you’re clearing out remaining issues and conflicts about being grateful and being successful and being happy.

Kevin: Okay.

Carol: So it’s a wonderful combination. So everyone in law of attraction is talking about the gratitude list. And I have that in my book. And the gratitude walk. Well, why don’t you combine that with tapping.

Kevin: Okay.

Carol: So remember, abundance is a vibration and a feeling and you can change your life by changing your feelings. You don’t have to do something, people are like, ‘Oh, I have to change my resume. Oh, I have to buy a new marketing plan.’ No, you don’t. You need to change your vibration. And once people get that, that it’s about vibration, they’re on their way.

I have seen people make profound changes in a very short period of time, once they understand that youth and improving your immune system and health and vitality and energy is about your vibration. Not about what family you came from. Not about the physical limitations you think you have. It’s about your vibration. And once people put that together, the light that comes through them; I mean, they get so excited, they really feel invincible.

Kevin: Right. Which is not a bad thing.

Carol: Not a bad thing. Because when you feel invincible; I’m not talking about a 16 year old who feels invincible and drives too fast on the highway.

I’m talking about feeling in love with life. Being excited. Feeling happy and then you’re friendlier to your neighbors. And you’re nice in the grocery store. And you don’t cut people off when you’re driving. And you just, you feel more forgiving of yourself and of others. That feeling, is contagious. And it’s contagious to yourself.

Kevin: Yeah. I think everyone, who’s listening to this call, has probably felt that feeling. I mean, think about it. You know? That’s a fantastic way to live. And you’re saying this is possible all the time.

Carol: This is possible all the time. Now, we have many things that get in the way. But I try to start my day with a gratitude list. I end, or in the late afternoon, I do my Chi Gong. Which is a way to be peaceful and quiet and kind of close the door on the day, the workday. Right? So things get in the way because we live in this world, and we do go to work, and we have our lives.

But, you could hold on to that abundant feeling. That grateful, loving, exciting, happy feeling, by your focus. So change your focus. How? You write a gratitude list. You do EFT and feel better. You write a list of what you’re happy about. You call someone who cares about you. You don’t keep calling the ex who dumped you. There are many, many ways to stay focused in the present, in a way that’s really helpful and just expansive for you.

Kevin: There are times when people, when they go to pick up the phone to call that ex, right? There’s a moment of decision that goes on. Or when someone has a piece of cakes, and they have the fork and they’re about to slice into it. Or there’s different parts of different experiences where there’s that moment. What do you recommend that someone do at that moment?

Carol: Well, first of all, before those moments come, if you do EFT regularly, it’ll help you have less of those moments. Because I say to people, if you wait, until you’re in the car, driving to Dunkin’ Doughnuts, before you do your tapping, you’re not going to do it, because you’re on your way to the doughnut.

Kevin: Right.

Carol: So do it ahead of time. Do it three times a day for the stress relief that you need. So that you stop using food as a way to calm yourself down, okay?

Kevin: Right.

Carol: If it’s in the moment, you reach up and start tapping.

Kevin: Okay.

Carol: And figure out what are you doing? Why are you calling the person who hurt you so badly? What are you looking for? Ask yourself the questions. Now what happens is, people are often times impulsive, so they don’t wait. They don’t want to ask themselves the questions. They say, ‘No, I’ve got to talk to him about this.

Kevin: Right.

Carol: They really on some level, the relief that comes with eating the piece of cake, just feels so immediate, that’s what they want.

Kevin: Right.

Carol: They forget what their goal is. They forget they’re working out in a program with you. They forget that they want to be thin. And it’s just very easy to pick up the substance that’s not good for us. It’s very easy to do. But not when you calm your overall body down. Not when you’re using the energy of your body, the energy system and the meridians and you’re calming down and feeling more relaxed about yourself. When you’re relaxed, big stressors don’t have the same impact. When you’re uptight and upset and stressed out and you haven’t slept well, you know how it is. It’s the little things that put you over the edge.

Kevin: Oh, yeah. It’s almost exponential.

Carol: Exactly. So, I’m talking about a long term, as well as a short term program. This is about your life. You know, in ten years, I still want to feel like I have access to the fountain of youth. Not just today.

You know, this is about our full lives. May we live as fully as we need to and deserve to, in our however many years we’re supposed to be here.

Kevin: Yeah. I think everyone’s entitled to that. Wow. This is just awesome stuff. Well, we are wrapping up now. Is there anything else you would like to add to the listeners out there? Any thing in particular that might come to mind?

Carol: I’d like to remind them that they are powerful, but they are brilliant. They know so much about what works for them and what doesn’t. They are so smart and they deserve to accept themselves. It’s really, really powerful work. That is not some corny self help statement.

It is incredibly powerful. What I have seen happen, when someone says, ‘Okay, even though I have this conflict about success, even though I’m afraid to be the top person in my company, even though I’m afraid to reach my goal weight.’ When they say, ‘But I accept myself anyway.’ And just stop beating up on themselves, miracles happen. It’s so exciting.

So, just remember that you are lovable, you are good enough, you know, you’re worth accepting. And remember that you have available to you, each of us has available to each of us, this incredible tool that’s about our inside. It’s about the electricity and the energy inside of us. And once you have your thoughts, and your body and your mind in alignment, there’s no stopping you.

Someone said that to me the other day, ‘Carol, it seems like you are so happy. You are so connected to yourself, that you know, somebody can criticize you and it doesn’t affect you.’ It’s like, ‘Why would I let that effect me?’ Someone who doesn’t know me says something nasty? I am living an integrity in my life, with my relationships. You know, I was here at 9/11, I was in New York City. And all these clients came to me and said, ‘Well, I want to change my marriage and change my home, and I’m going to leave New York and change my job.’ And everybody took a good look at their lives and said, with that kind of a crisis, where am I and how am I doing?

And I make myself check in. How am I doing? Do I appreciate how I’m living my life? Am I treating my people in my life, my friends and family members, with integrity and with love? Am I taking care of myself? Am I putting first what needs to be first as far as priorities? And it’s just wonderful to check in and then there’s no stopping you. Because it’s about your integrity and you’re not measuring yourself against someone else’s judgment.

Kevin: Hmm.

Carol: If you, Kevin, are living in your integrity and enjoying your life and doing the best that you can, that’s the best. There’s no stopping you.

Kevin: Wow. (Laughs) This is so empowering. I mean, it’s just; what an awesome, awesome talk.
