Hi.

I am only a beginner with this - so would not know about whether you can skip the 9-step part - my guess is that it would not stop the process working altogether - as it is a very forgiving one - but would probably make it less effective.

As for bringing positives into your life there are many ways - but it is a little hard to answer your question as almost all COULD be seen when missing, as "negatives".

I am guessing (perhaps wrongly) that you mean other than "noticably negative things you wish to banish" as opposed to "not positive" which you wish to enhance.

So, if you wanted a new positive (extra energy in the afternoon), you could still view it as a present negative - "I don't have enough energy in the afternoon".

"Even though I find I have insufficient energy in the mornings, I deeply and completely accept myself"

"Even though I find it hard to tolerate my mother-in law visiting on sundays, I deeply and comepltely accept myself"

I guess it depends on what you want really. Once you have found that, it is easy to build a sentence around it and tap away.

Signup for the newsletter - you get some useful little tips and tricks on a regular basis then.

As they say, if in doubt - give it a try - after all it only takes about 1 minute to do a full cycle!

Good luck

EFT may work for some people, but it did not help me and I am not very enthusiastic about it.

The psychologist Kevin Hogan once did a study of EFT. One group was given EFT with the standard EFT tapping points. A second group was given random tapping points that had nothing to do with EFT or the acupuncture points that much of EFT is supposed to be based on.

The results were quite interesting. The group receiving the real EFT reported a reduction in stress. However, the group receiving random tapping points that had nothing to do with EFT reported a GREATER reduction in stress.

This result points to the probability that EFT is a placebo. Dr. Hogan calls it the Law of Expectancy----what you expect to happen is likely to happen. Maybe more studies need to be done. Some people report success with EFT, but I am not an advocate of this form of treatment.

I did try it once to lower my anxiety about a certain situation, and I did feel better afterwards. But I guess the results weren't wildly remarkable enough for me to keep using it regularly because I fell out of the habit and have since forgotten where the points are and in what order to tap them.
